Short Description:

The main objective of this document is to describe the user satisfaction survey of potential users of the ICONS prototype - the Structural Fund Project Knowledge Portal [ICONS D35]. The result of the work presented here is the survey definition, the description of survey process based on the proposed methodology and the description of survey results and analysis. This document addresses recommendations of reviewers to carry on with strong focus on pilot application, especially the usability of the portal and tests with different types of users.

The survey clearly shows that the idea of the SF Portal was very appreciated as addressing the most important problem: the existing gap in the SF infrastructure - support for the preparation of proposals. Complementary search facilities, possibility of expert acquisition and the knowledge zone gained common approval. The major evaluators' concern followed from variety of instruments offered by the system (all represented in the current version of the application) while the identified customers are focused on particular instruments. In this case other instruments only obscure system capabilities. It is a valuable observation to be addressed during SFP KP industrialisation - focusing the application scope on a particular instrument of interest is a simple way to decrease user perceived complexity. All the suggestion and improvement proposals were registered and will be taken into account in further works.

The paper is divided into five chapters and bibliography. The first chapter is a standard introduction. The second chapter defines the survey as the examination of certain user satisfaction areas. In this chapter we introduce fundamental questions of concern that pertain the survey, short description of subtasks leading to the creation of the survey methodology and the list of products prepared within these subtasks. Chapter three presents the basics of the methodology that form the basis of the survey process. It describes general recommendations for the satisfaction survey, defines respondents of the survey and the principles of preparing a questionnaire. In chapter four we introduce a detailed description of consecutive actions that were performed during the survey process. Finally, chapter five describes the survey results and contains their analysis. We present the questionnaire result summary together with additional remarks made by survey members, analysis of results and recommendations for changes in the portal that could lead to raising the level of user satisfaction. The functionality of the SFP Knowledge Portal was examined by the end-users. The prototype was also assessed in other aspects of work. The main conclusions can be found in chapter five. Generally, it has to be stated that the ICONS prototype meets the expectations of potential users. Some details need improvement, but none of them need a major change.
